Puyallup (pronounced Pyou-AL-up) is located 10 miles southeast of Tacoma and is named after an Indian tribe. Originally incorporated in 1890 its name means generous people. With a population of over 37,000 residents, the city known for its fair which was renamed from the Puyallup Fair to the Washington State Fair. Every year in September you will still find thousands of people still "Doin The Puyallup!"
