Federal Way with a population of 96,757 (2016 census) is located in King county and is the 9th largest city in Washington State. Although there is no real date as to first permanent settlement there were several Indian tribes that used the area for seasonal staying over and camping. It was in 1792 when Captain George Vancouver first explored the area that many natives actually greeted him. Federal Way did not officially (after several failed attempts) become a city until February of 1990. Located within Federal Way you will find 9 City and state parks and several places with access to Puget Sound. You will also find several of the states large employers here like Weyerhaeuser, Xerox and St. Francis Medical Center to name a few.
